For 'The Boy Without a Hat' by http://k-writerly.livejournal.com/
Now I think I totally have to draw Mad Hattie herself.

Where did he go?
More roughs for 'Boy Without a Hat'. I'm definitely being pushed to be more creative with my layouts as the author enjoys in her own words "extreme angles and perspectives". Which to tell you the truth is quite awesome it gets me out of a box I have a tendency of doing for works of my own. I think these are going to end up...not only making one cool ass book, but great for portfolio pieces as well. I might become a professional someday yet!

Too Cute Jungle
You may have noticed, I have a thing for doing paintings that match nursery bedding/decor, so for most of the recent babies in my family I've tried to something for their rooms. So for my newest niece to be (We'll be welcoming her sometime in December) I went all out and painted with real paints even. Do you know how longs it's been since I broke out the acrylics? The nursery theme is going to be in Emma by Lambs and Ivy with a few things from Carters Jungle Jill collection. So I kind of hodgepodged the two collections together and added a hippo. I love hippos! The pinks and greens aren't as obnoxious in real life...I just couldn't get it adjusted right in photoshop. Yes Keri...I'll go back to work on your book now.

Alice for Keru
So a couple versions of Keru's Alice character for her upcoming book. Trying to decide between a prissy or artsy version of the character. I'm trying to go for an asian looking character. Methinks I'm going to have to sculpt maquettes for these characters once they are hammered down so I have a good reference to keep the characters features looking consistent.
So Ker, which version do you like?

Old Stuff while I do New Stuff
So I'm currently in process of creating some character sketches (and eventually actual illustrations) for a book. Written by http://k-writerly.livejournal.com/. Go check out her page.......lalalalala. Oh Hi You're back. I'm also have sketches for a book my mom wrote, a book I have an idea for and redoing some pages from a book I did in college that I and my cohert at http://crowedesigns.com/, did way back in college and might try to self-publish.
So I need to scan some of these said images but while I'm doing that..... some older stuff I have saved on my harddrive. This one has the ultra creative name of 'Rainbow Fairy'. Yeah, I know, I know...lame apparently my creativity is reserved for artsy craftsy things.

more from January
Monkey Love. The green is knitted (Vannah's Choice I believe), seed stitch edges, stockinette body.
The Monkey head/arms are crocheted using a variety of superwash yarns. I'll update to add a link to the pattern for the monkey.
Later,
M
